Baghdad, 3 February 2013 – The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG), Mr. Martin Kobler condemns in the strongest possible terms the coordinated attacks on the police headquarters in Kirkuk today, which have claimed dozens of lives and injured many more. كوردی
“My thoughts are with the families of the victims, with the people of Kirkuk who, once again, are the victims of mindless and brutal violence. The perpetrators show a complete disregard for human life”, Mr. Martin Kobler said. “It is important that the people of Kirkuk remain united against the forces of extremism and hatred. I urge the Iraqi leadership to take all necessary steps that are required to deal with this alarming situation, particularly in Kirkuk, the symbol of peaceful coexistence in Iraq”, he added.
SRSG Kobler extends his deep sympathy and sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wishes for a speedy recovery to the wounded.
